This week the Tennessee Vols host the Missouri Tigers in their home opener. Mizzou is coming off a opening loss to Alabama, while Tennessee is coming off a tight hard fought win at South Carolina.
This match up seems to be one sided this year, Tennessee returns 18 starters and 5 star transfer Cade Mays who has now been deemed eligible so expect him Saturday. On there other hand Mizzou is lead by 1st year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz who only returns 7 starters, which include a new quarterback with Kelly Bryant graduating. This seems to be a bit of a rebuilding year for the Tigers so I could see the Vols taking this one as they have one of the most talented rosters in the SEC.
Mizzou only managed 322 total yards against against Alabama, with 253 of those yards coming from the air. Expect those numbers to be lower especially if Shawn Shamburger is back in the line up this weekend.
Mizzou’s Defense allowed over 400 yards, 111 of that being rushing. With Cade Mays now playing , look for Tennessee to pins the rock with running back tandem Eric gray and Ty Chandler. I predict the Vols will score and score often.
My prediction: Vols 38 Tigers 10
Also, Gray and Chandler will each run for 100 yards.
