Vols at Kentucky: Round Two
In Monday’s pre-game press conference, Rick Barnes spoke with the media regarding Tennessee’s matchup tonight against the Wildcats at Rupp Arena. Barnes quoted his normal spill about the team, but one thing that Barnes said that really stuck out was; “I think Kentucky is the most underrated, under appreciated teams in the country. I think them (Kentucky) and Kansas are the best teams in the country.”
As the Vols travel to Lexington tonight, the game won’t be easy for Tennessee. HC Barnes said it best, the Wildcats are one of the hottest teams in the country. Let’s also not forget that Kentucky has a front runner for SEC player of the year, Immanuel Quickley, who seems to be playing his best basketball of the season.
The Vols lost the first matchup in Knoxville 77-64. We can’t blame the loss entirely on being down a player, but it would have certainly helped the first go around. I believe tonight will be different knowing that we have Josiah-Jordan James. He played out of his mind against Florida on Saturday, which resulted in a Vols win.
Tonight’s game will be a daunting task, as the line for the game is obviously in Kentucky’s favor of -8.5. Not to mention, it’s senior night for the Wildcats, so the team and the fans will be fired up.
What are everyone’s thoughts? Was coach Barnes giving Kentucky too much credit? Can the Vols take down the Wildcats? Will having Josiah-Jordan James change the outcome? We’ll find out tonight at Rupp Arena.
