Basketball recruiting is heating up and some big names are being thrown around for the Volunteers. If you don’t know the name Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, you should probably get familiar. Hatfield is in the 2022 class but is rumored to reclassify to the 2021 class. Currently, according 247 sports, he’s the Number 6 player nationally and 1 Power Forward. It’s been known for a while that Hatfield was a Kentucky lock, but reports surfaced this week that UK and Hatfield cut ties with one another. Now the question is where do the Vols fit into this picture? Borderline Sports was informed from anonymous recruiting expert that Tennessee is now the leader for Hatfield. Hatfield is dropping his Top 7 schools tomorrow, so expect Tennessee to be on that list. If the Volunteers are able to get a commitment from Hatfield AND get him to reclassify, that would take care of the big man position. Like who even cares about Paolo Banchero if Hatfield commits? Also, Tennessee assistant Kim English is the lead recruiter for Hatfield and he played a major role in getting Kennedy Chandler to commit to Tennessee.
