It’s Georgia week for the Vols and it's one of the biggest games of the year and one that could potentially decide the SEC East. This week we will be comparing the starting QB’s. Georgia’s starting QB is currently Stetson Bennett.
He’s had a few bad drives from potentially losing his spot to JT Daniels. So far this year, Stetson has threw for 451 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Stetson is more of a dink and dunk, short throw kind of quarter back, though he does have a long of 49 yards that he threw against the Auburn Tigers.
Now, onto the Vols and Jarrett Guarantano. JG seems to have a more steady job and has coach Jeremy Pruitt, who has the ability to notice if JG is struggling and will give him a little leeway to get going and find rhythm. This year JG has shown improvement in some areas. He looks more comfortable in the pocket (who wouldn’t with that O-Line?) and he seems more comfortable using his legs to gain some tough yards. Who would’ve thunk (thought) that JG may be the best QB sneak in the college football? This year JG has thrown for 449 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Though JG isn’t a throw it 30 or 40 yards down the field QB at all times, he is more willing to do so than Bennett. This game may come down to whose O-Line is able to keep their QB’s jersey cleaner than the other. Stats wise they’re pretty even, but I will give the edge to JG as he has played in more big games and has more experience in college than Bennett.
