Takeaways from Today’s Victory Against Cincinnati

Another day, another “grind it out” win for the good guys. Here are three quick reactions to the Vols 65-56 win over the Bearcats of Cincinnati.

The offense is still struggling: The offense showed moments of promise, so i’m not panicking or freaking out. The team is too talented to continue shooting like they are, but offense was hard to come by for the Vols as they shot 32% from the field and 16% from three. They did however get to the free throw line 30 times and hit 25 of those for 83%.

The defense is still elite: The defense was still very, very good for the vols as they held Cincinnati to 37% from the floor and 28% from three. They also did not get caught fouling much as the Bearcats only shot 7 free throws.

Indecisive late game decision making: Honestly, the Vols could’ve won this game by at least 13-15 but some late game indecisiveness against a full court press led to some struggles and easy buckets for Cincinnati. But much like the first reaction, i’m not panicking, there's more than enough time to fix that and I trust coach to do so.

The Vols will play against easier competition on Tuesday as they host Appalachian State (wassup Luke Combs?) with tip off at 7:00 PM ET. That game will air on the SECNetwork
