Defense is Jeremy Pruitt’s calling. He spent most of his college coaching career as a defensive coordinator. Defense for the Vols will be STOUT and tough-nosed this season. Let’s break down who the Vols have.

Notable defensive backs: Alontae Taylor, Shawn Shamburger, Bryce Thompson, Jaylen McCollough, Trevon Flowers, Baylen Buchanan.

Notable d-linemen: Savion William, Greg Emerson, Emmit Gooden, Matthew Butler, Darel Middleton, Aubrey Solomon, John Mincey.

Notable linebackers: Henry To’o To’o, Quavaris Crouch, Kivon Bennett.

Let’s breakdown the numbers. Last year the Vols gave up 21 points per game, 2,166 rushing yards on 493 attempts which equals to an average on 3.7 yards per carry. In the air the Vols gave up 191 yards per game. The Vols also sacked the QB 34 times and had 15 interceptions. In the SEC the Vols ranked 7th in team defense and 29th in the country. With a revamped lineup the Vols’ defense will be unmatched this coming season and my prediction is they’ll be one of the top 3 defenses in the SEC.
