After a total of 2,354 days have passed since the Vols were supposed to begin their season, it is finally basketball time in Tennessee. The Vols will welcome a tough Colorado Buffs team into Thompson Bowling Arena on Tuesday night. The Buffs are 2-0 with wins over Kansas State and South Dakota. Though the Buffs did lose Junior Tyler Bey to the NBA, they do bring back All Pac-12 Player Mckinley Wright IV. Wright made the decision to return to college after going through the draft process. So far this season Wright is averaging 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists on 64.3% from the field. Jeriah Horne who transferred into Colorado, he is the team's second leading scorer at 10 points per game and leads the team in rebounds at 5 rebounds a game. The key to beating Colorado for the Vols will be simple, play team defense. The Buffs are a well coached offensive team under Tad Boyle (former director of basketball operations at Tennessee under coach Jerry Green). Closing out on shooters and cutting off driving lanes will be key for the Vols, as well as maintaining the glass and grabbing rebounds. Freshman Keon Johnson will be key on the defensive side of the ball, as will be Senior Yves Pons with defense and rebounding. This won’t be easy for the Vols, but it could be a big resume win come March.
The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 pm ET and will be streaming on SECN+
