Preview: Kentucky vs Kansas

Written by: Leighton Piper

The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team takes on Kansas University tonight in the Champions Classic and is looking to shake off the early season loss to Richmond. The cats have shined in recent years in the Champions Classic with a 5-4 overall record and a perfect 2-0 record against the Jayhawks. If the cats want to remain perfect in this tournament against Kansas, they must bring it from the perimeter. Guys like Davion Mintz and Dontaie Allen need play a lot of minutes and perform when they are on the court. Freshman guard Devin Askew may need to take over the reserve PG role until he can figure out the college pace a little better. We will rely heavily on BJ Boston and Olivier Sarr in this matchup, but if the rest of the team can step up, make shots from the perimeter and not get into foul trouble, the Cats have a terrific chance to improve to 2-1 on the season.
