Lady Vols Overcome Foul Trouble

Written: Dallas Bowlin.

The Lady Vols overcame foul trouble on Tuesday night to win at home against ETSU 67-50. It's the second win of the year for the Vols as they improved to 2-0, though it wasn’t easy, Rennia Davis, who usually is in for most, if not all of the game, but after two fouls in the opening five minutes, Davis had to take a seat on the bench all the way up until the end of the third quarter. Thankfully Rae Burrell stepped up and scored a team high 20 points to help lead the team to victory, Burrell also led the Vols in scoring (18 points) in their last game against WKU. Teammate Rennia Davis had this to say about Burrell in an article posted on the Tennessean, “she’s been aggressive looking for her shot. I like having somebody else on the wing that can score equally as well. Then teams have to guard us straight up, they don’t have to just focus on one of us.”

Coach Kellie Harper had this to say after the game in her post game press conference, “it was a little sloppy at times. I’m disappointed in our execution on both ends of the floor. We’ve got to be better.”

The lady Vols next game will be the SEC/Big 12 challenge as they travel to West Virginia to take on the Lady Mountaineers. That game will be December 6th at 2:00 pm ET and streamed on ESPN+.
