Keon Johnson Ready for a Monster Year

As we found out recently, it’ll be another two weeks before we see the Tennessee basketball team play. Not only did the University decide to cancel this week’s game, they also canceled next week‘s games against Gonzaga and Notre Dame. In other news, we found out today that Tennessee guard, Keon Johnson, was projected by an ESPN analyst to go 7th in next year’s NBA draft. With such high expectations there hasn’t been a lot of buzz around Johnson‘s name this preseason camp. Johnson is a 6’5 combo guard that can create he’s own shot, something that Tennessee missed all last season. Throughout camp, Johnson has been battling with fellow freshman 5 star guard, Jaden Springer for playing time. Rumor‘s from camp is that Johnson has outshined almost all the guards. When the first game finally rolls around, I would expect Johnson to be starting alongside Santiago Vescovi and Josiah Jordan-James. Johnson is a matchup nightmare on the perimeter and getting him on the fast break is almost impossible to stop. Johnson is literally an ATHLETIC FREAK. In his high school career, he averaged 25.4 points per game and 9.4 rebounds, he’s unstoppable. This years SEC Freshman player of the year race will be super close between Johnson and Kentucky guard BJ Boston.

Below you can see Johnson’s highlight film:
