Eric Gray Shining in a Lackluster Year

Even though the Tennessee fan base has being fighting for the past couple weeks. Whether it‘s over Jarrett Guarantano being the starting quarterback, or firing Jeremy Pruitt, we all can agree upon one thing, Eric Gray is a STAR. Despite 2020 being a disaster, Gray has been a shinning light in a dark place. In the showdown with Auburn almost two weeks ago, Gray had 22 carries for 173 yards and a touchdown, also adding he led the team in receiving with 49 yards. Honestly, all of us know that there has been times that Gray should’ve got 20-30 carries a game. For the season so far, Gray has 651 yards rushing which ranks 5th in the SEC. Those numbers could easily sky rocket this week against a not so great run defense of the Florida Gators. To add onto that, Gray has 199 receiving yards on the season which ranks 2nd on the team. The stats speak for itself that Gray is a top running back in the SEC. Could you imagine what kind of season Gray would be having if he had a passing game to compliment the run game? I’m afraid we may only have Gray for one more season before leaving for the NFL. Considering the style of running back he is, Gray is very comparable to former Volunteer running back Alvin Kamara with the way he cuts on the field, plus being a huge threat out of the backfield. So Vol nation, appreciate the greatness we have currently in the backfield with Eric Gray!
